Tractebel buying German engineering firm to expand in offshore wind

September 12 (Renewables Now) - Tractebel, the engineering unit of French energy group Engie SA (EPA:ENGI), will acquire German sector player Overdick GmbH & Co KG in order to grow in the field of offshore wind power.

Tractebel said in a statement on Tuesday that its subsidiary Lahmeyer International has signed an agreement to buy Overdick and expects to close the transaction later this month, subject to regulatory clearance. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Hamburg-based Overdick is an offshore engineering firm that offers a wide range of services within offshore wind, offshore oil and gas, naval architecture, marine operations, platform removals and salvage. The company has experience in the design, construction, transportation and installation of wind turbine and offshore high voltage substation (OHVS) foundations.
